Assault by bodily injury in Texas consists of intentionally, knowingly or recklessly causing bodily injury to another person.

Driving While Intoxicated can be a misdemeanor or a felony based on the facts involved, and a common misconception is that your vehicle has to be in motion for you to be charged.
Drug possession laws vary widely according to the type of drug and quantity, as well as whether there is evidence to believe the Defendant is a drug dealer.
Juvenile offenses are governed by the juvenile justice code, contained within the family code. Juveniles may be charged with all of the myriad offenses an adult can be charged with, however the rules involved are substantially different.

Rather than a specific offense itself, domestic violence is more of a descriptor of what would otherwise be a typical assault that involves a family member, a roommate, or someone the Defendant is in a dating relationship with.
Property crimes, including theft and criminal mischief, sometimes use a sliding scale based on the alleged value of the property stolen or damaged to determine the level of punishment and degree of offense charged.
OUR FIRM
What may seem to you to be a minor accusation by the prosecutors in your case can often have drastic consequences to your personal and professional life. A criminal conviction may cause you to be rejected from certain jobs, cause you immigration or naturalization issues, or even prevent you from owning a firearm or prevent you from voting. Ultimately, there is no area of law that is more high stakes than criminal law. You need an advocate willing and able to investigate and evaluate the State's case against you in order to protect your rights.
As a law practice run by ex-prosecutors who have left the profession to practice criminal defense, the attorneys at Sims Criminal Law are in a unique position to understand the potential strategies the prosecutors will use against you as well as the strengths and weaknesses of each case.
